Creator economy and vernacular monetization in India

Creator economy in India keeps getting modeled as a smaller version of YouTube or Patreon. It isn't, and assuming so is exactly the "global template with the currency symbol swapped" mistake from earlier on this list. The direct-fan-payment model, a tip jar, a monthly pledge to one creator, assumes a willingness to pay directly that mostly doesn't exist here yet.

Kuku FM and Pratilipi already proved the pattern that actually works: the audience pays the platform, and the platform pays creators on usage, closer to a music-streaming royalty than a tip jar. The platform owns the subscription relationship and the trust; the creator gets paid for what actually gets consumed. That's a fundamentally different economic structure than "support this one person directly."

Short-video platforms extend the same logic further. Moj and Josh monetize creators indirectly, ad revenue share, brand deals the platform itself sources, not a direct fan-to-creator payment relationship at all. Distribution and monetization stay bundled inside the platform's relationship with its audience, and the creator is closer to a supplier than a merchant with their own storefront.

The opportunity sitting underneath all of this is infrastructure, not another creator app. Royalty splitting, brand-deal matching, rights management, dubbing and licensing content across languages, are the unglamorous picks-and-shovels layer that every vernacular platform and creator on it actually needs, and almost nobody is building well.

I'm looking for founders building the monetization and rights infrastructure underneath vernacular platforms, not another direct-support app assuming Indian audiences pay creators the way an American Patreon subscriber does. Same lane as consumer applications for Indians, applied to the creator layer.
